Mercedes Wilson: For Our Daughters

Mercedes E. Wilson brings deliverance through her voice in many ways. Transformational speaker, author, television personality, radio and podcast host, event emcee, and founder of a non-profit, “For Our Daughters” are a few of the ways she brings hope to the masses. She jokingly refers to herself as an “Accidental Evangelist,” because after her breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 28, the desire to help others and live a life of obedience was so heavy that it was like fire set up in her bones, and she had to release. Every experience, positive or negative, every tear, and every gift given to her by God has been carefully crafted and packaged for the consumption of others so that they too can receive the healing and breakthroughs that she has received, but only if they’re willing to do the work.

In 2012, on the heels of her breast cancer journey, Mercedes founded, For Our Daughters Inc, which is a non-profit dedicated to teaching young women how to advocate for themselves in regards to their health and well being. For Our Daughters was birthed out of Mercedes’ painful breast cancer diagnosis, and how she was unaware of her own family medical history. Four thousand young women, and counting, have been nurtured and equipped with the tools necessary to have serious conversations about their health through educational workshops and the annual Mother-Daughter Luncheon.

“Hope: How Faith Carried Me Through My Darkest Hours”, Mercedes’ first book, was released in 2018 and has already touched so many. However, “Hope” is more than a book; it is an unfiltered raw love letter to God that not only reveals the inner workings of Mercedes’ heart, but it lends space and instruction for readers to also overcome obstacles in their own lives. “Hope” also serves as a personal therapy session and gives supernatural vision to those situations that you can’t see through, but hope teaches that the best is yet to come.

The Mercedes Wilson Show delivers such a genuine look at the modern church and controversial topics, that Mercedes was invited to Power 96.5 to host her own show, before moving on to international television. She confronts the hard topics head on, but always leaves her listeners with practical takeaways to apply to their lives as they reconcile thousands of years of religion with Jesus’ message of hope and love.

Out of everything she has accomplished and overcome, Mercedes’ greatest blessing is her amazing husband and four wonderful children. The Lord has repaid her beauty for ashes with her family, and they are her largest compliment and answer to her testimony.

About For Our Daughters….

For Our Daughters, Inc. was founded in 2012 after the founder, Mercedes Wilson, was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at the young age of 28. It was at this time that Mercedes learned just how much she didn’t know about her own family history. It was through this ordeal that For Our Daughters, Inc. was birthed!

As a 501(c)3 organization, our aim is to assist young women between the ages of 11-19 with living longer, healthier lives by taking the reigns on their health. We believe that every young woman should know her family history and be proactive in speaking up when something isn’t quite right with her body. This is accomplished by going into both middle and high schools all over western New York, spending time with young women in an effort to show them how to open up dialogue with the loved ones in their lives. We talk about not only the importance of learning ones own family history, but also to become comfortable talking about their own health.

Lack of knowledge kills too many young women today, and For Our Daughters, Inc. is on a mission to help change this. For Our Daughters, Inc. is aiming to play a large part in seeing young women all over WNY live long, healthy lives. Our efforts have allowed us to be featured in several news pieces over the years and in 2014, For Our Daughters received the “Community Angel Award” from Women’s Health radio.
